" More than 25 years of experience and know-how for contact lens design, manufacturing and marketing "
ST. SHINE Optical Company Limited is an experienced contact lens manufacturer offering a wide variety of products for domestic and international markets with innovative technology and design. From conventional lathe-cut to cast-molding, from RGP to soft contact lens, from daily to frequent replacement disposable products.
The company was founded in 1981 as First Optical Co., Ltd. by consortium of experts who have years of experience and knowledge in the contact lens industry, which includes contact lens fitting, optical designing, manufacturing, and marketing. The company was renamed as ST. SHINE Optical Company Limited in 1986.
Over the following decade, ST. SHINE became the largest supplier of contact lenses in Taiwan based on high performance products for myopic and hyperopic patients together with patented lenses for the effective correction of astigmatism.
During the 1990s, ST. SHINE expanded its operations into Western European and Asian markets. This was made possible by introduction of CNC lathing machinery and completion of the construction of advanced molding lines in its Taipei facility. High caliber operating standards were demonstrated in 1996 when ST. SHINE became the first Asian manufacturer of contact lenses to receive international ISO 9001, EN 46001 and CE Certification by Notified Body. In December 2002, ST. SHINE received the ISO 13485 Certificate.
ST. SHINE has traded profitably throughout its two decades of operations and has a history of prudent operational and financial management. In 1999, Taiwan venture capital investors secured stakes in the Company to fund continued business growth. ST. SHINE became a public listing company in TSE (Taiwan Stock Exchange) in March 2004.
ST. SHINE has secured FDA approval for single vision and toric lenses in May of 2002 and multifocal lens in April of 2003. Exclusive worldwide rights to patented technology for a family of aberration control contact lenses - single vision, toric and multifocal - were acquired from a California research company to provide ST. SHINE a leading product portfolio to support effective market penetration. |
